Biography
Prashasnika Gehlot has a PhD in Cancer Biology and currently working as a Postdoctoral fellow in the field of Immunology at the University of Michigan. She has created a novel in vivo model of hepatocellular adenocarcinoma and hepatic fibrosis at the MD Anderson Cancer Center. Within this project she characterized the model for it’s the molecular nature and identified the liver cancer stem-cell initiation pathways. Currently, she is working on a novel bone destruction inflammatory pathway and the association of Rheumatoid arthritis and periodontitis. In addition to research, Dr. Gehlot has served for two years as a Speakers Chair and Co-Chair for Responsible Conduct of Research at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas. She is currently serving as a Vice president for UM-AWIS (University of Michigan-Association for Women in Science). Dr. Gehlot also represented UM- Postdocs as an organizing committee member at the “Future of Bioscience Graduate and Postdoctoral Training†(FOBGAPT 2015). She is very passionate about teaching and has mentored several undergraduates, graduate students and postdocs in her career.
